The third edition of the National day of Arts and culture in school was celebrated in Yaoundé de last Friday March 23. The event that was commemorated at the Yaoundé Multi sport complex brought together students, teachers and secondary education stake holders from all the ten regions of Cameroon.
Under the watchful eyes of the minister of secondary education Louis BAPES and the minister of family and women empowerment the animation was marked by fashion and of various ethnic groups, to portray a united country at the time Cameroon is celebrating its 50 years of independence and reunification.
Another point of top of the day was a guided visit to the domains of gastronomy, fashion and beauty, handicraft, painting, music and carpeting, other forms of arts like theatre, literature and sculpture included.
It is worth noting that the day is organized in a bid to promote art and culture as a factor of self-fulfilment. The artistic skills, once acquired become a window to professionalization and self employment. Take the short listed food industry, restauration, social assistance, material technology, artistic anatomy and visual education. At the end of their training the apprentice is awarded a ‘‘Baccalauréat’’ according to their study fields or options, thus ready for field work. So professional education is a complete integrated programme of secondary education.
